Allergic Response
Color illustration of allergins entering the nares of nasal passages. The insets diagram the microbiology of the mechanism of allergic inflammation or the allergen-induced mediator release from sensitized mast cells. The initial contact with the allergin is on the B cells, which release IgE antibodies to the mast cells with IgE receptors. When the allergen connects with the antibodies, the histamines are released from the mast cell and an allergic reaction occurs.
