Ascending aortic aneurysm
A unicuspid aortic valve is a rare congenital malformation revealed in 5.59% of patients during aortic valve replacement and in 0.019% of patients during echocardiographic evaluation. In many patients, a unicuspid aortic valve leads to the development of aortic insufficiency and ascending aortic dilatation. In the case presented, a 37-year-old male patient presented with a unicuspid aortic valve, moderate aortic insufficiency and ascending aortic aneurysm (intraoperative photograph).
