Bicuspid aortic valve
A 62 years old lady presented with a congenital bicuspid aortic valve, moderate-to-severe aortic regurgitation, ascending aortic aneurysm and moderate proximal aortic arch dilatation. The patient underwent elective open-heart surgery: Bentall procedure (replacement of the aortic valve, aortic root and tubular ascending aorta with mechanical valved graft) combined with hemiarch repair. The appearance of the bicuspid aortic valve (type 1 "L-R") is presented (intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography). Note the coloured regurgitant jet.
