Bicuspid aortic valve

A bicuspid aortic valve is the most common congenital aortic valve anomaly. In many patients, a bicuspid aortic valve leads to aortic stenosis, aortic insufficiency and thoracic aortic aneurysm. In presented case a 70 years old lady with a Sievers type 1 "L-N" bicuspid aortic valve has both severe aortic stenosis and insufficiency, combined with ascending aortic dilatation. Photo of excised cusps of the aortic valve is presented.
