Cardioversion, 2 of 2

An electrocardiogram (ECG) readout of a 63 year old male with a-fibrillation obtaining cardioversion. Cardioversion is a medical procedure where a patient with an abnormally fast heart rate is given an electrical shock to restart their heart. The image show the patients heart rate going from a-fibrillation (at left) to a near normal heart rate (at right) after receiving a shock to the heart. After receiving a second shock the heart rate then appears normal (as depicted here). Image 2 of 2.
