Axial CT scan with contrast enhancement. A 7-year-old-female patient. Noticeable are masses of various sizes in the liver and spleen of up to 37 mm in diameter. A disseminated infection occurs in 5-10% of cases, manifesting as multiple granulomas in the liver and spleen. Cat-scratch disease (CSD) is a consequence of zoonotic bacterial infection, which is caused by the Bartonella henselae bacteria. It is typically elicited by a scratch of a cat.
