
Chronic folliculitis - brown skin
Chronic folliculitis or the pustular dermatitis atrophicans of the legs in a 40-year-old man. Note that all the hair follicles are destroyed in both legs. This is described as accounting for 0.5% of skin diseases. It occurs predominantly in males and affects symmetrically the anterior tibial surfaces of the legs, sometimes involving thighs and forearms. Miliary pustules are followed by atrophic scars. Fitzpatrick skin type (FST) phototype 5.
