
Degenerative aortic stenosis
A 72 years old patient complained about vertigo, loss of consciousness episodes after walking upstairs, pain behind the sternum & shortness of breath. Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography before the surgery. ME AV SAX (mid-esophageal, aortic valve, short axis) view. Aortic valve cusps are compacted and include large calcifications, and also have adhesions along the commissures. A stenotic, turbulent flow on the aortic valve is registered during the Color Doppler ultrasonography.
