Endometrial Cancer Lymph Nodes
Color illustration that shows a cross-section of the female pelvic area and highlights uterine cancer or endometrial cancer. The sentinel lymph node is featured in the common location of SLN, which is medial to the external iliac ventral to the hypogastric and superior part of the obturator nodes. The image suggests that mapping can safely replace lymphadenectomy as an acceptable alternative staging method for endometrial cancer. The internal structure of the lymph node includes blood vessels entering the hilum, the afferent and efferent lymph vessels, the subcapsular sinus, the cortex, the medulla and the trabeculae.
