Fossil Orthoceras

Orthoceras fossil. Orthoceras is an extinct marine cephalopod, related to the squid and octopus. It lived between about 470 and 360 million years ago, and has been found in Europe, North Africa, and North America. Its name means "straight horn," in reference to its elongated cone shape.
