
Kawasaki disease
Kawasaki disease. Panarteritis of the circumflex (right) and anterior interventricular (left) coronary arteries. Inflammatory infiltrates in all the tunics of the two arteries. The intima was destroyed and then replaced and thickened with inflammatory cells. The media has been partially destroyed and thinned. This arteritis will cause aneurysmal dilation of the coronary arteries then rupture. Histological section, HES stain, x 25 (at 24x36 mm).
