Kerion - brown skin
Ringworm of the scalp (kerion) in an 11-year-old boy. The most severe pattern of ringworm on the scalp is known as a kerion. It is a painful, inflammatory mass in which such hairs as remain loose. Follicles may be seen discharging pus, there may be sinus formation. Zoophilic species, typically T. verrucosum or T. mentagrophytes are the causative organisms.
