Large Developmental Venous Anomaly, CT scan

This axial (cross sectional) CT of the head without contrast shows two very subtle nodular high density focus in the cerebellum on the viewer's left which clearly represents a part of a very large developmental venous anomaly (DVA), as seen on MRI. Developmental venous anomalies are extreme variations in venous drainage patterns and are not vascular malformations. They can be associated with cavernous malformations. These anomalies of venous drainage should not be removed because they drain normal brain territory and removal would result in venous infarction.
