Lens Replacement Surgery
Refractive lens exchange, also called lens replacement surgery or clear lens extraction is a surgery for people with presbyopia and high hyperopia (farsightedness). During the procedure your eye's clear natural lens is replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) to correct your refractive error and achieve sharper focus. In most cases patients will no longer require corrective lenses. The procedure is mostly performed on an outpatient basis and normally takes about 15 minutes. After numbing anesthetic drops are applied a small incision is made and the replacement is made.
