Liver metastasis of medullary carcinoma of thyroid gland 28y
A female patient 28 years old, underwent surgery for medullary thyroid cancer 4 years prior to this scan. She felt nausea & occasionally vomited. Following an ultrasound scan, diffuse changes in the liver were noticed. The patient underwent an MRI scan of the abdomen BEFORE the treatment. On this MRI scan, utilising T1W postcontrast (T1 weighted) axial tomogram we see that the liver is of normal configuration and position. Smooth contour, with round metastatic subcapsular change on border S5/S6 with hyperintensive edge - the appearance of the target. This change shows intensely dominant marginal postcontrast enhancement of signal intensity. Intrahepatic bile ducts are not dilated.
