Liver metastasis of medullary carcinoma of thyroid gland 64y
A male patient, 64 years old, underwent surgery for medullary thyroid cancer in the past. He also had a laparoscopic intervention of liver metastasis which was pathohistologically confirmed. He felt nausea and lost 7 kg of body weight. Following an ultrasound scan, a recurrence of metastatic liver disease was noticed. On this MRI scan (BEFORE the treatment), utilising post-contrast T1 VIBE FS in port venous phase 75 seconds (T1 weighted Volumetric Interpolated Breath-hold Examination FS) axial tomogram in the liver, 2 small focal lesions were seen, which first correspond to secondary deposits. Metastases are subcapsular and hyposignal compared to other heterosignal liver parenchyma, with a maximum diameter of 10 mm.
