Lower Leg Muscles
Line drawing highlighting muscles of the calf or posterior lower leg. Featured muscles are the gastrocnemius and the soleus ghosted underneath and achilles tendon. The origin of the gastroc muscle is shown on the lateral side of the lateral condyle of the femur. Its insertion is shown on the posterior surface of the calcaneus. The origin of the soleus is shown on the posterior surface of the head and upper third of the shaft of the fibula. Its insertion is shown on the posterior part of the calcaneus.
