Marianas Flying Fox
Mariana's Fruit Bat or Flying Fox (Pteropus mariannus), one of three bat species native to Guam and an endangered species, primarily due to human consumption. This bat is feeding on nectar from a flower of the kaok tree (Ceiba pentandra) and simultaneously pollinating it. These bats also consume the seeds of the sago palm, and consumption of the bat has been connected to neurological problems in humans due to compounds in the seeds.
