Mediastinal germ cell tumor
A 1-month-old-male baby patient. This CT scan shows a heterogeneous mass, filling most of the right thoracic cavum and displacing the mediastinum to the left. It contains a single focal calcification and a few spots of fat density. It invades the pericardium, the thoracic wall and the diaphragm. CT-guided biopsy was performed also; Histopathology report revealed the following: Non-seminomatous mixed germ cell tumor composed of mature and immature teratoma, AFP-positive yolk sac tumor, and embryonal carcinoma. The growth fraction was greater than 50%.
