Mirizzi syndrome refers to an uncommon phenomenon that results in extrinsic compression of an extrahepatic biliary duct from one or more calculi within the cystic duct or gallbladder. Pneumobilia is also evident. Pneumobilia, which is also known as aerobilia, is the accumulation of gas in the biliary tree. The gallbladder is not significantly dilated.
