
Mitral chord rupture
An elderly 69 years old male patient suffered a car accident. The steering wheel hit him in the chest area. He complained of severe shortness of breath and pain in the sternum area. A severe mitral regurgitation was revealed during the transthoracic echocardiography. Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography before the surgery. ME LAX View (mid-esophageal, long axis). During a diastole a ruptured mitral valve posterior cusp moves (flotting) with the blood flow.
