MRI cardiac infarction
A 65-year-old male patient with ischemic heart disease and acute myocardial infarction. His left anterior descending artery was stented due to chronic extended atherosclerotic occlusion. This MRI of the heart was performed six months following the artery stenting intervention, as this patient complained of shortness of breath. Notice extensive lesions in almost all segments of the myocardium of the left ventricle (subendocardial accumulation of contrast) and a low ejection fraction (24%) - which predicted low efficacy of further surgical interventions. Notice also a slice of the left ventricular myocardium along the short axis.
