MRI of Normal Brain and Hydrocephalic Brain

One the left is a sagittal (from the side) T1 weighted MRI showing normal anatomy of the brain. On the right is an MRI image of the brain showing enlargement of the lateral ventricles, a condition called hydrocephalus. This abnormality was treated by placing a ventricular shunt catheter into the enlarged lateral ventricles to divert the fluid away from the head.
