
Myxomatous degeneration
A 65 years old female patient complained of increasing shortness of breath during the past 5 years & vertigo. There is a history of 1 episode of atrial fibrillation paroxysm. During transthoracic echocardiography, a severe mitral valve cusps myxomatous degeneration with severe eccentric mitral regurgitation was revealed. Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography after the surgery. ME LAX View (mid-esophageal, long axis). A biological prosthesis is visualized in the mitral valve projection. (left ventricle systole). A mild mitral central transprothetic regurgitation flow is visualized during the color Doppler ultrasonography.
