Myxomatous degeneration

A 65 years old female patient complained of increasing shortness of breath during the past 5 years & vertigo. There is a history of 1 episode of atrial fibrillation paroxysm. During transthoracic echocardiography, a severe mitral valve cusps myxomatous degeneration with severe eccentric mitral regurgitation was revealed. Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography before the surgery. ME View (mid-esophageal) mitral commissural. Mitral valve cusps are severely myxomatous changed.
