Non-tuberculous Mycobacterial - NTM CT scans
A 66-year-old man, a non-smoker, complained of difficulty breathing, loss of air, loss of appetite and body weight, productive cough accompanied by frothy white sputum, night sweats and increased temperature in the evening hours. After spirometry, which showed restriction in the small airways with a decrease in the vital capacity of the lungs, this patient was referred for a Sputum Culture lab test and CT lung scan. Due to a nodular change of open etiology on the CT scan, the patient was referred for a PET CT scan. This is a 3D Volume Rendering (based on a PET CT scan) of the patient's entire body. Notice a nodular change of greater intensity in the left lung, just below the axillary region.
