Penetrating aortic ulcers
A 69-year-old male patient presented with ascending and descending thoracic aorta aneurysms. Maximal ascending and descending thoracic aorta diameter was 56 mm and 51 mm, respectively. Contrast-enhanced CT, including multiplanar reformations, revealed localized ulceration, penetrating into the aortic wall in the tubular ascending aorta and distal third of the descending thoracic aorta. The intraoperative photograph of the severely dilated tubular ascending aorta and proximal part of the aortic arch is presented.
