Reportage in the Rinecker Proton Therapy Centre in Munich, Germany. The centre is equipped with the latest protontherapy treatment technology. Protontherapy consists of irradiating cancer cells by concentrating a beam of protons on the core of the tumour, while preserving healthy neighbouring tissue. To treat localised tumours on organs that are likely to be moving due to breathing, the patient is placed under artificial apnea.
