Pulmonary Mycobacterium avium complex infection - untreated - after 6 months
A frontal CT scan with contrast enhancement of a 44-year-old male after 6 months. It shows a left upper lobe fibrocavitary pattern. Centrilobular opacity type "tree in the bud" is visible in the upper and lower lobes. Bronchiectasis and bronchial wall thickening are identified in the upper and lower lobes. Pulmonary calcifications, pleural scarring, and nodularity are likely due to chronic infection. A 64-slice CT scanner was used, with the thickness parameter set to 0.5 mm. A 100 ml iodine contrast with V = 5 ml/sec injection was administered prior to the scan.
