Pulmonary Mycobacterium avium complex infection - untreated - first-time detected
This is a transverse CT image with contrast enhancement of an 84-year-old female smoker with a history of marginal zone lymphoma. It shows a left upper lobe (inferior lingular bronchopulmonary segment - S5) fibrocavitary pattern - Lady Windermere Syndrome (LWS). Noticeable are the right lower lobe node and the bronchial wall thickening. Pulmonary calcifications are likely due to chronic infection. The Mycobacterium avium complex was isolated. A 64-slice CT scanner was used, with the thickness parameter set to 0.5 mm. A 100 ml iodine contrast with V = 5 ml/sec injection was administered prior to the scan.
