Pulmonary tuberculosis

This is an inversion, transverse, maximum intensity projection (MIP) CT image with contrast enhancement of a 68-year-old male smoker. It shows lung nodules in both upper and left lower lobes, paraseptal emphysema in both upper lobes, and an enlarged left hilar lymph node. The bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) was isolated. A 64-slice CT scanner was used, with the thickness parameter set to 10 mm. A 100 ml iodine contrast with V = 5 ml/sec injection was administered prior to the scan.
