Quadricuspid aortic valve

A quadricuspid aortic valve (QAV) is a rare congenital heart disease with an incidence of 0.00028-0.00033% in autopsy series and 0.05-1% for those receiving aortic valve replacements for aortic regurgitation. QAV is characterized by the presence of four cusps, instead of the usual three found normally in the aortic valve. The functional status of QAV is predominantly a pure aortic regurgitation. In presented case QAV combined with ascending aortic aneurysm revealed in 70 years old male patient.
