Rheumatic mitral stenosis with severe mitral regurgitation
A female patient, 56 years old suffered from frequent angina since childhood. She has been being monitored by a cardiologist with heart murmurs for the past 35 years. Shortness of breath during the last 10 years was noted with periodic pressing pain behind the sternum, seizures of palpitations and cough with a small amount of sputum. Transesophageal echocardiography. ME (mid-esophageal) two-chamber view. A thickening of mitral valve cusps with inclusions of calcifications is visualized.
