Saturnid Moth Caterpillar
Stinging caterpillar of a species of saturnid moth, possibly of the genus Automeris. Saturnids are known as silk moths from their silken pupal cases or cocoons. Many of their caterpillars are large, beautiful, and covered with stinging spines for protection from predators. Photo taken in Loreto, Peru.
