Saturnid Moth Caterpillar
Saturnid moth caterpillar covered with venomous stinging spines, possibly of the genus Dirphia, and closely allied to D. tarquinia. Saturnids are known as silk moths from their silken pupal cases or cocoons. Many of their caterpillars are large, beautiful, and covered with stinging spines for protection from predators.
