Septate Hymen, Illustration
In a septate hymen a dividing membrane partially blocks the vaginal entrance. The openings in a septate hymen are usually large enough for the menstrual flow to escape but minor surgery is often required to allow for the insertion of tampons or for sexual intercourse.
