
Shiras Moose Bull
Shiras Moose Bull (Alces alces shirasi). The Shiras Moose is the smallest of the subspecies of moose. They have bulky bodies with short, stubby tails and a long, oblong head. Moose are browsers and feed on leaves, twigs, bark, and buds of hardwood and softwood trees and shrubs. In the summer moose feed heavily on aquatic plants such as water lilies, which are rich in minerals. Moose will eat 40 to 60 pounds of food daily. Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.
