Sigmoid colon cancer. Complete bowel obstruction secondary - CT scan
Frontal CT scan with contrast enhancement. A 69-year-old-male patient. Asymmetrically and circumferentially increased wall thickness in the distal to the middle segment of the sigmoid colon with extension into the pericolic fat. Complete bowel obstruction secondary to a distal circumferential lesion, suspicious for malignancy. No obvious solid organ or lymph nodes metastasis was detected. This is a pathology-proven case of T3N20M0 - Sigmoid colon cancer based on TNM staging. The TNM staging methodology, officially known as the TNM classification system of malignant tumors, is a cancer staging methodology overseen and published by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) publishes the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual which is based upon - and for the most part identical to - the TNM system.
