Tick bite
A late-60s patient who had been bitten by a tick went to the emergency room. The tick was left undiscovered on his skin for several days before it started to ache. The tick appeared well-fed, and the skin around it was inflamed. Due to exposure over 36 hours, preventive treatment with 200 mg of single-dose doxycycline was carried out after removal.
