Wood Splinter in knee
A 36 year old Caucasian male with no significant medical history was moving lumber from a pickup bed by hand when the lumber fell against his lower body. Upon inspection, he noted a large wood splinter embedded under the skin above his right knee. Stated the splinter was approximately 2 inches long. He attempted to remove the splinter by himself but became light-headed. He then drove to an urgent care clinic where the physician removed the splinter. The site was cleaned and dressed with a sterile 4x4 and the patient was discharged. The wound healed without complications.
