Zinc Reacting With Copper Sulfate, 3 of 7
A zinc metal strip was immersed into a beaker containing a 0.2M copper (II) sulfate solution. Since zinc is more reactive than copper, a single-displacement reaction occurred: Zn + CuSO4 -> Cu + ZnSO4. This image was taken 16 minutes after the strip was put into the beaker. Note hydrogen gas bubbles that were produced in a secondary reaction. Photo 3 of 7.
