MOXIBUSTION
A moxa cone on a Yu point (back). The cone is placed on the skin and is removed as soon as the patient perceives a warming sensation. In China, several successive cones may be positioned on the skin leading to burns and indelible scars. Today, a layer of salt, a slice of ginger or garlic is placed between the cone and the skin. This type of treatment is often used for patients with chronic diseases or “empty and cold” diseases such as asthma or chronic diarrhea.
