Vascularization and innervation of the pancreas Representation of the pancreas vascularization in anterior view with its connections with the vesicle and the ductus choledochus (green), duodenum (dark beige). From the aorta goes the common hepatic artery on the left of the drawing that rises again toward the vesicle. From this artery descends the gastroepiploic arteries that describe an archway that join the mesenteric artery onwards the terminal part of the duodenum. From the aorta, on the right of the drawing, goes the left gastric artery, then beneath the left splenic artery detach the left gastroepiploic artery that join the mesenteric artery. The portal vein donne on the right of the drawing a left gastric vein that remonte toward the stomach, and a splenic vein that goes toward the end of the pancreas. On the inferior border of the pancreas onwards the terminal part of the duodenum, appears the mesenteric vein that gives on the left of the drawing, a colic vein, and a jejunal vein on the right of the drawing. The solar plexus at the level of the coeliac trunk gives the nervous fibers that follow the routs of the different vessels.
